Altenew Zara Dress Inspired Card

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've updated my blog. I've been focusing on my YouTube channel and boy, does it take a lot of time to edit videos! Today, however, I thought I would write a post dedicated to this card since it was so special and I really enjoyed creating it.

I've had this idea before to use my floral clothing as card inspirations. I actually wear a lot of floral dresses, shirts and pants and I love the unique combinations on them. Their color palettes are usually very different from the ones that I typically choose for my creations. This time Altenew had this fun challenge where you pair up a photo of something in real life (flowers in your garden, floral clothing, or just any designs with flowers) with your projects. It's the perfect opportunity to try out my idea!

Out of my closet full of florals and greenery, I choose this dress from Zara. I love the bold, vibrant colors; red and pink peonies accompanied by purple flowers, not to mention the interesting pairings of grey and olive green leaves!

Since there were so many colors involved, plus I was using this layering stamp set called Beautiful Day, I had to try out many different color combinations before I got the ones that would match well.

Here is a list of all of the colors I used (most were mixed matched with different ink lines):
Top Red Flower: Delicata Rose Gold / VersaFine Clair Glamorous / Delicata Ruby Red
Middle Pink Flower: Delicata Champagne / VersaMagic Pixie Dust / Delicata Rose Gold
Bottom Red Flower: Delicata Pink Shimmer / VersaFine Clair Glamorous / Delicata Ruby Red
Green Leaf: VersaMagic Sage / VersaMagic Spanish Olive
Grey Leaf: Brilliance Starlite Silver / VersaFine Clair Morning Mist / VersaFine Clair Nocturne
Small Purple Flowers: VersaFine Clair Nocturne / VersaMagic Purple Hydrangea / Encore Purple / Delicata Ruby Red
Sentiment: StazOn Pigment Snowflake
Background Splatter: Delicata Black Shimmer
The two red flowers were actually stamped with the same inks except for the bottom layer, but you can see that they actually have a big difference just from that one change. Since the red peonies on my dress have some variance in shade (one has a warmer tone than the other one), I thought I would incorporate that into my card, too.

I think the most surprising element is that this stamp set also has this little cluster of flowers, and it matched my dress so well I didn't even have to find other floral stamps from other sets. It's such a perfect coincidence!

I had to stamp the inside of the card, too. It's quite simple: just a couple of stamped images with some shimmery ink splatters, but I think it really makes a big difference. Personally I think the details on the inside is what makes a handmade card so special; store-bought cards always have blank insides or one of those tacky sentiments right in the middle.

And that's my project for today! Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you like this unique creation and would feel inspired to try some new color schemes.
