Easy Fun Fold Card that Lights Up

Hi everyone! It’s Jessica here and I’m excited to share a quick and easy fun fold card idea with you. The concept is simple, but I love how a simple alteration to the card base can make such a great difference!

Step 1: Cut a piece of A2 cardstock and score at 4 ¼’’ so that it opens in the left-right direction (instead of opening up). Then trim off 2 ⅛’’ from the front panel and emboss it with Brick & Mortar embossing folder. Optional: Cut a piece of patterned paper to 4’’ x 5 ¼’’ and adhere it to the inside of the card. I chose a wood grain patterned paper that matches the yellow cardstock.

Step 2: Die cut a piece of cardstock and stamp the piggy image onto the scalloped square piece. I used the Memento Tuxedo Black ink. It is a great ink for stamping if you want to color your images with alcohol markers.

Step 3: I colored the adorable piggy with Stampin’ Blends markers. For his body, I used light and dark Pale Papaya and dark Petal Pink. I then colored the birthday cake with dark Daffodil Delight, dark Pumpkin Pie, and dark Calypso Coral. The green balloon was colored with dark Old Olive and dark Soft Sea Foam. And I added some color to the ground with Bronze. The Color Lifter is also a staple of mine. I find that by using the Color Lifter, the highlights of the images are emphasized more strongly, and it’s a great tool to achieve a blended look between shades of color.

Step 4: I added a simple light circuit so that the candle lights up when you press on the balloon image. A detailed video tutorial can be found on my channel (or search for “Quick & Easy Fun Fold Card that Lights Up”).

Step 5: Die cut flowers and leaves using the Playful Piggy die set. They are cute alone but even cuter in clusters! I adhered them together with On Point glue.

Step 6: Stamp the sentiment on another die cut square. VersaFine Clair Nocturne is my go-to ink for sentiment stamping. Adhere the sentiment square to the inside of the card first so you could easily cover it with the piggy panel. If you stick the piggy panel down first, it will be harder to align the sentiment square on the inside.

And here is the final card! I don’t make fun fold cards very often but I thought this simple design was so easy to make, and I highly recommend it! I really enjoyed making this card, and I hope you enjoyed it, too.

Beginner Friendly Valentine's Light Up Card

Hi everyone! It's Jessica here. Today's project is for all the crafty beginners who would like to try making interactive light up cards. Interactive cards might seem intimidating at first, but they are so fun and easy to make once you give it a try!

Check out this step-by-step tutorial on how to create your very first light up card. You don't need a lot of supplies to follow along. Just choose a stamp set and some patterned paper. I'm using Stampin' Up's Flight of Fancy stamps today. The images are adorable and pairs with LED lights perfectly.

It's a really short and simple circuit. The only trick is to connect the positive side of the battery to the positive side of the Chibitronics LED light sticker, and vice versa.

You can also purchase my handmade card kit (stamps plus supplies for 6 cards) and follow the step-by-step video. The kit includes the Flight of Fancy stamp set, 6 pre-scored card bases with matching envelopes and white card inserts, patterned paper for 6 cards, copper tape and 3 LED light stickers (red, blue, yellow), gold thread and rhinestone embellishments.

You can make 3 light-up cards and 3 regular cards with this kit.

Here's a different card idea without the Chibitronics lights as well. Just a simple stamp and paper card.

If you have never tried making light up cards before, I hope you'll feel inspired to give it a try!
