Summer Fruits ft. Winnie & Walter

EDIT: Top 3 at Seven Hills Crafts

Hello all! I'm so excited to share what I created for the Gossip Column challenge! My card is heavily inspired by Taheerah's summer fruit card (shown below).

I actually created this summery background with Christmas and floral stamps! (Yup, stretching my supplies once again) The pineapples and grapes are created with the In Bloom: Elsa's Flora set. (left) For the pineapples, I partially stamped the larger acorn  image and drew it's base with a Copic Multi-liner. Next I stamped the pine needle image twice to create its spiky leaves. The grapes were actually altered from the holly berries stamp. I then used In Bloom: Carolina's Florals (middle) to create watermelon slices and raspberries. Here I transformed strawberry seeds into watermelon seeds, and using the Copic multi-liner again, I drew the sides and completed the watermelon slices. Finally, I used images from the In Bloom Lola's Bouquet (right) set to make kiwi and passion fruit. Although you can't really see the kiwi because it's hiding behind the sentiment banner. :( Wish I had swapped its place with one of the watermelon slices. Oh well.

Here's a snapshot of my creative process:

Super messy LOL! Just trying out some combos and see which works better.

Then I covered all of the fruit images with masking fluid and distressed Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Wild Honey, Crushed Olive, and Mowed Lawn inks to create the background. I also added an organic touch by flicking some water droplets onto the inked panel. At this point the background is finished, but I thought it was missing something and looking a bit plain. So I stamped the striped patterns from Scenery: Stripes 2 set with Hero Arts Unicorn white ink for some added interest.

I decided to keep the sentiment relatively simple; I stamped and heat embossed several sentiments stamps gold on a vellum banner. "you are my" and "heart" are from Sentimental: Endearments. "sweet" is from The Big, the Bold and Baby

I also decided to create a CAS version because I couldn't pass up this pineapple design with its dramatic spiky leaves. The punny sentiment is stamped with Stampin' Up's Labeler Alphabet set. And it's a direct CASE of Taheerah's pineapple card. Isn't it super clever? ;) I hope you liked these summary cards. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

TYPOGRAFIA Motivate: Be Fearless ft. STAMPlorations

Hello hello!!! Here is the third card I created for STAMPloration's Typographia Motivate hop! This sentiment stamp is one of my favorites out of this new release <3 <3 In my case, crafting is what sets my soul on fire. :-D

I started off by creating the background - I embossed the Fearless word die repeatedly across a piece of gray cardstock until the entire panel is filled. Then I cut a strip of patterned vellum and adhered it to the embossed background.

For the focal image, I clear heat embossed the Soul On Fire sentiment on a white die cut piece (so the sentiment is white and resists ink) and distressed Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin and Candied Apple inks over it. The bold, warm colors really reminds me of wild flames! I then adhered some enamel dots as embellishments, and that finishes off the card!

TYPOGRAFIA Motivate: Perfect Moment ft. STAMPlorations

Hello and welcome to STAMPloration's Typographia Motivate blog hop! I'm really excited about the new stamps (you can take a peek at the photo below). Aren't they just the perfect sentiments for encouragement cards?!?

I made a CAS one layer card for this Perfect Moment stamp. I stamped the sentiment with teal and green colored ink to create an ombre effect, then I heat embossed it clear. Next I simply masked the four sides and blended Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed and Wild Honey distress inks to create the yellow spotlight. To embellish the card, I drew some lines and dots to frame the sentiment, and flicked some gold paint for a finishing touch.

Winnie & Walter July Leading Lady: Stretch Your Supplies (Giveaway Winner Announced!)

Good morning all! It's hard to believe that July is almost over, and this is my last post. Time really flies! I'm truly honored to be one of the Leading Ladies and have greatly enjoyed creating with many of my favorite products. Thanks so much to Shay and Winnie for having me and to those who left some love for both Winnie & Walter and my blog. :)

For today's post I decided to do something I've always loved: stretch my supplies use them in creative ways. The first card I made was inspired by Taheerah's cards in the last Gossip Column. I die cut the "i" from In a Word: Hi Cutaway, the In a Word: Love Cutaway, and the "Y" and "U" from Typecast: Cary Letters Cutaways to form a sentiment. I sponged the die cuts with Distress Inks, and the colors I used are listed below:
i: Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet
love: Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed
Y & U: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Lucky Clover

You could stop after distressing the letters with rainbow colors and kept it as a CAS card, but I decided to stamp "I LOVE YOU XOXO" (from Sentimental: Love set) repeatedly to create a border.

I then stamped "forever & always" beneath the "i" and that completes the card!

I don't normally stamp the envelope, but I thought it'd be fun to dress this one up. I stamped "sealed with a kiss" from the same Sentimental: Love set and paired it with a lip image (from Sugar Pea Designs Talk is Chic)

My second card was inspired by the sentiment: "You are the yin to my yang." After some experimenting, I decided to stamp the yin yang sign with the round speech bubble from Sketchy Thoughts. I used VersaMark Onyx Black ink and Hero Arts Unicorn white ink. For some added interest, I pierced a dotted border with one of the dies from the Essentials: Lana Cutaways set.

Next I drew the outline with Copic Multi-liner and gold heat embossed the sentiment. I then embellished the card with pearls and gold thread, and that finishes off this card! I hope you enjoyed these creations, thanks so much for stopping by and have an amazing day!

Winnie & Walter July Leading Lady: Christmas in July

Hello and welcome! I am back with another Leading Lady project and I'm so excited to share this one with you! Most of the cards I send out are birthday and Christmas cards. Although I definitely send out more Christmas cards because I'm not that good at remembering other people's birthdays... (who else relies on Facebook reminders?!?) Anyways, I'm glad to start working on my Christmas card stash early this year. I really enjoyed creating this card, and I hope it will inspire you, too!

I started off by creating the night sky background. I used the Essentials: Lana Cutaways to die cut the background panel from watercolor cardstock. Next I sponged and smooshed Stormy Sky, Evergreen Bough, Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire distress inks. I also added a touch of Black Soot to the borders for some contrast. To add more interest to the background, I spritzed some water droplets to create the faded look. Then I stenciled white embossing paste over the Scenery: Big Bang Circle Creative Screenings. I also applied a thin coat of embossing paste to bottom portion of the panel to keep my critters grounded, and that completes the falling snow scene.

I then watercolored these adorable images from Season's Tweetings with Evelin T. Designs with ZIG clean color real brush markers, and die cut them out with their coordinating dies

Finally, I gold heat embossed "warm winter wishes" on vellum for the sentiment banner. I decided to add "sending you" from Sentimental: Love stamp set as well because I think it ties back to the postage stamp shaped background. #happymail :)
