Autumn Wreath ft. The Greeting Farm

Today I have another non-holiday card to share with you. The heart mask, floral wreath and colored card base are all inspired by Gloria's card (shown below).

First I stamped the little squirrel from The Greeting Farm's Wood Friends set. Then, masking his feet and tail, I stamped the tree stump image from Pix's Favorite by Mama Elephant. I used the second largest heart die from Memory Box's Cross Stitch My Heart set to cut out a mask. Then I stamped a bunch of little images around the mask to create my wreath. 
The acorn image is from the Wood Friends set I listed above, and the little mushroom and leaf are from the Pix's Favorite set I mentioned before. The small flower bouquet and the heart (bottom right corner) are from Mini Pony Party. It's a Simon Says Stamp exclusive collaboration with The Greeting Farm and was part of the STAMPtember release. The small pumpkin is from Meowlloween, another set from Mama Elephant. It's so nice that a lot of American stamp companies have similar styles: bold outlines and cute images, so that we can mix and match our stamps to create more unique scenes. 
 


All of the images are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Sketch markers. I've also heat embossed my squirrel with clear embossing powder and some images with sparkly ones. The sentiment is a Paper Smooches gold heat embossed die cut. To finish off the card, I traced the heart shape and added stitched lines with my black gel pen. You can see that it's a thicker pen that makes the lines more dimensional and reflective under light. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I hope you have enjoyed it, too!

DIY Bubble Background ft. The Greeting Farm

How are you enjoying your Christmas Holidays? I certainly treasure this time of the year when we get to chill with family and family and, well, have some time to craft! Since blogland has been filled with lots and lots of Christmas cards lately, I decided to make something different. So here is my non-holiday, summer (yes, summer in December :P) card. 


The circles in the background of Rahmat's card reminded me of bubbles, and that was what inspired me to create this card. I've CASEd the layout, the background and the vellum sentiment banner from her card, and also used the silver shimmer paste to embellish my card as silver is quite prominent in her design. 


For today's card I'm using a new stamp I received just a few weeks ago. It's called Maisea Mermaid from The Greeting Farm. (Isn't she adorable?!) I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic markers. 


I started making the background by blending Lucky Clover, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean distress inks. Since I don't own any circle stamps yet, I decided to create my own circles/bubbles using the tools I have on hand. After quite a lot of experimenting, I came up with these methods: 
1. I used a medium sized brush and drew some circles free hand. However, instead of using plain water, I went with pearlized water which gives that shimmery look.
2. For the circle halos, I dabbed the back of my sponge dauber (the plastic part where you put your finger in) with the same pearlized water and "stamped" around the pearl circles. 
3. Use a VersaMark pen to draw some solid and hollow circles, then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.
4. With a small, cheap brush (because you don't want to damage the bristles), apply a layer of silver shimmer paste to some of the bubbles you have drawn previously. *clean/wash your brush right away!* 


The sentiment is also from the same stamp set. I stamped it on a strip of vellum and also heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. To make it more defined, I added stitched lines with my Copic multiliner (0.3) on both sides and adhered the ends to the back of the distressed panel. To finish off the card, I heat embossed the mermaid's tail and flower with sparkly embossing powder, and also added some wink of stella to her hair.

Sparkly Angel ft. Neat and Tangled

Merry Christmas! I'm sharing a short post today about this sparkly angel card. I decided to keep it CAS so I only used very minimal craft supplies. The angel image and sentiment from Neat & Tangled is heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Then I "colored" the image with a palette knife, using Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Texture Paste and art Extravagance gold texture paste. It's a little hard to tell from the photo, but I've also mixed some silver paste with Tumbled Glass distress ink so the upper half of her wings have a faint blue hue. Glittery Christmas Tree Gift Box ft. Hero Arts

I've wanted to make my own gift boxes for a long time, and guess what came in the mail yesterday? We R Memory Keeper's 1-2-3 Punch Board! It's a product that has been around for a long time, I wonder what took me so long to finally purchase it. (Probably my long crafty wish list, haha!) Anyways, I was super excited to play with it and I made this 4x4x4 gift box right away. 


What is better than a handmade gift box? A decorated one, of course! I'm in love with this Merry Christmas Tree stamp and die set from Hero Arts. It's an oldie but goodie. 

The decoration is heavily inspired by Paper Sweeties's challenge graphic. I went with the color scheme, the sparkly element, and of course, the tree itself. 

 I created the sparkly turquoise tree by covering an adhesive-backed cardstock with Elizabeth Crafts's Microfine Glitter. After burnishing the glitter with a bone folder and wiping off the loose glitter with a swiffer cloth, I colored it with BG15 and BG09 Copic markers. I've also embellished it with some sequins, beads, pearls, gemstones, as well as some stamped die cuts. TIP: I colored my gemstones with a red Copic marker. They were originally clear!

 I also created a bow with my Bow-It-All 2.0 tool. Since I haven't put the actual gift inside the box yet, I left the ends of the bow untied. 


To make the stamped die cuts look more like embellishments, I've covered them with glossy accent. A trial and error: I first stamped my images with pigment inks and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. However, heat embossing turns the white spaces yellow and also blurs the details. Coffee Collage Card ft. STAMPlorations

Hi there! Today I'm sharing the last card I guest designed for STAMPloration's Theme & Sketch challenge. I decided to go with both the theme (Stamps & Collage) and the sketch (shown below) for my card, but feel free to use only one for your creation! 



For today's card I used one of STAMPloration's new coffee stamps: Coffee for All Seasons. It's one of my latest favorite! Here I used some masking and repetitive stamping technique to create this collage effect, then colored all of the images with my Copic markers. I think I've used almost all of the colors from my 72A set. It's a little crazy, isn't it?! But I love how it turned out. The vibrant and colorful images definitely give me a festive, holiday feel. 
By the way, I didn't know this when I first purchased the 72A set, but apparently they don't include good color blending groups in their sets. And I suspect this might be why I struggled with using my Copic makers in the first few months I bought them. So if you are thinking about getting into Copic coloring, you might want to consider getting individual markers first.
